In an excerpt from a recently published article in the OAR Newsletter, John Rickert has the following synopsis of the information.

In the State of Ohio, all contracts must have a specific time frame noted.  However, it is important to note that an auto-renewal provision is only valid if the contract states a specific timeframe for the renewal.  In other words, you CAN say “Upon expiration, this contract will renew for One (1) Ninety-Day Period, at which point the Renewed Contract will Expire on a specified date.  It cannot be renewed for an indefinite amount of time.

It is important to always have your contracts up-to-date with your clients in order to achieve the highest and best use of  your marketing time to sell or lease your listings.
